How Nvidia's Latest GPU Uses AI to See 3 Frames into the Future

Imagine if your computer knew the future

Note from the Author

Hello my fellow humble servants!

2025 kicks off with CES in Las Vegas this week! I have been fan boying around the Nvidia announcements and will be talking about them here.

As your AI Humble Servant, I am too "humble" (ahem broke) to attend CES in person. But Nvidia's keynote just blew my mind!

Here's the incredible part: Out of 33 million pixels needed for a 4K frame, their new AI only needs to actually compute 2 million pixels and predicts the rest.

Plus, for every single frame the GPU renders, the AI can predict three frames into the future! They're calling this "neural rendering" - the fusion of AI and computer graphics.

Excerpt for a 7th Grader

Imagine you're drawing a picture, but instead of coloring the entire page yourself, you color just a tiny part, and a super-smart robot finishes the rest for you. That's what NVIDIA's DLSS technology does in video games.

Instead of making the computer do all the hard work to show every single frame (a picture on the screen), it makes one picture and then uses AI (like a really clever brain) to guess what the next three pictures will look like. This means your computer works less, but the game still looks awesome and runs super smoothly.

And the best part? They've somehow managed to shrink this beast of technology to fit in thin laptops. The new RTX 50-Series is bringing this AI revolution home to GeForce, making what was previously impossible... well, possible!

When they say "GeForce enabled AI to reach the masses" and "AI is coming to GeForce," they mean business.

But what really gets me excited is how future graphics cards are getting smaller – meaning more powerful AI applications will soon be running right in your home!

Here are some other cool AI gadgets!

AI Video Of the Week - Did Sam Altman shift the AGI release date to this year?

The Rundown

OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman has dramatically shifted the company's timeline for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), now targeting as early as 2025. This represents a significant acceleration from previous estimates of 2030. The company has also pivoted its focus from AGI to superintelligence, raising questions about the rapid pace of AI development and its implications.

Why It Matters:

This accelerated timeline for AGI development has significant implications for society, business, and technology. The shift from 2030 to potentially 2025 suggests AI development is progressing faster than previously anticipated. For everyday people, this could mean more rapid changes in job markets, daily technologies, and how we interact with AI systems. The involvement of major players like Microsoft and OpenAI's pivot to superintelligence also raises important questions about who controls and governs these powerful technologies as they develop.

Digital safety expert shows how to spot deepfakes created by artificial intelligence

The Rundown

AI-created deepfakes are getting harder to spot. A security expert shares tips to identify these fake videos. The tech is advancing fast, making it easier for people to create convincing deepfakes at home.

The Details

  • Visual Clues: Watch for unnatural skin tones where the fake face meets the neck. Check if facial features look distorted or if high-quality faces appear against fuzzy backgrounds.

  • Movement Analysis: Play videos at slower speeds to catch glitches in facial movements and expressions.

  • Content Warning Signs: Be suspicious of videos that push for quick action or try to stir strong emotions.

  • Expert Tips: Trust your gut when something seems wrong. Learn how your favorite public figures normally talk and move

Why It Matters

The spread of convincing deepfakes threatens our ability to trust what we see online. Bad actors can use this technology to spread lies or manipulate people. But knowing how to spot fakes gives us power. These skills help us protect ourselves and others from digital deception. We must adapt to this new reality where seeing isn't always believing.
